MODERN PRIMITIVES

The Accelerating Collision of Past and Future ...
Inherited Gardens

Late spring, is a wonderful time to entertain outdoors when it's finally warm enough to enjoy the gardens. We will take a trip to the home of TCGC Member and 1st Vice President Sheila Metcalf for a discussion on Maintaining an Inherited Garden. Is it a blessing or is it a curse? A modern look into how he or she will maintain the garden while keeping a link to the past and enjoying a balanced lifestyle.

An inherited garden, whether it's from a past relative or a master gardener, can be the greatest treasure or the natural disaster you hoped would never happen.

It's up to you to decide what will happen with it and whether it needs to be replaced to suit your lifestyle and newer gardening trends or whether it should be kept intact and maintained.

There are a total of 54 topiary people, eight boats, several dogs, a cat and monkey. The largest figure stands about 12 feet. Visitors are encouraged to bring a camera and enjoy an afternoon picnic amongst the outdoor topiary sculptures and natural pond. Open daily from sunrise – sunset Location: Old Deaf School Park.
